big age gap

My husband and I have two boys, ages 8 and almost six. We have gone back and forth about having a third child for a few years now. When I first mentioned about wanting to have a third, he wanted to hold off because he was about to embark on a major career move, which involved us relocating etc. So I agreed to hold off. But then I got bummed out because it seemed like it was too late and I didn't want to have the kids that far apart in age. My husband is happy and willing to go forward with it now, but I am terrified that this child would be so many years younger than the other two that it would have some kind of bad effect on our whole family. I am also afraid that the older two will never really bond with the third one. I would love to hear from some familes with a similar situation.
