| I found this website when I was just ready to call the Dr. My son who is almost 4 1/2 now is having a lot of the similar problems that everyone else discussed. But his has a little extra twist. First, about a year ago he had been holding it so long (sometimes 3-4 days) that we would have to use use the baby enemas to make him go. After we took him to the Dr, he put him on a percription, which helped make things softer. Once we got him to actually go everyday, we totally backed off for a while thinking that now that it doesn't hurt, he will do it when he is ready. Ironically, when he was 2, he would poop on the potty but pee in his pants. So after about 6 months, I decided I didn't want him on the medicine anymore and add about 2 tbls of mineral oil to his milk. I also try to ensure that he gets enough fiber (shreaded wheat ceral, wheat bread, fruit,etc) OK, ready for the twist. He never goes poop when he is awake! He will hold in "toots" too. He wears training pants to bed and once he is asleep..sometime during night, he goes. Typcially doesn't even bother him enough to want to get it changed. I feel so bad because sometimes he has to go so bad he is just frantic because his tummy hurts. I have tried everything...praise, rewards, stickers, fear...he talks about it, but he won't even take the time to sit on the potty. He just throw a pure fit. After reading some of the posts I am considering telling him that I am taking away the training pants to see how he reacts to that. Every once in a great while, he will accidently pee in his underwear and he hates it! Anybody else with something like this? |
