 | Our 19 month old daughter was diagnosed with reflux at 8 months. She never vomited but was fussy since birth, wouldn't sleep, wouldn't take a bottle and frantically needed to breastfeed every 1 to 1 1/2 hrs. She had "episodes" when sitting where she would go tense, grab at her chest, stare blankly and would end up clammy & with her heart racing. She was put on Zantac liquid at 9 months. The Zantac seemed to take the "edge" off her discomfort so she was able to sleep, take a bottle, etc. She still has the episodes and we have seen numerous peds, GI specialist and Urologist. The GI took her off the Zantac and put her on Losec MUPS a couple of weeks ago and she is now worse. Since "day 1" this has interfered with outings, as she has her episodes whether at home or out, in highchairs, strollers, carseats, shopping carts, etc. Since starting the Losec she has now had them while sitting on our laps and even when standing. We are very frustrated and worried. We keep running in to "brick walls". She still eats constantly (needs it or just trained that way from the reflux???). She gains weight so there seems to be no urgency from the doctors to continue searching. When she is playing and not sitting, she's normal and happy. We have videotaped her & given these to the doctors. We are pulling out our hair over this. She now is talking more so tells us the owie is either in her chest area or often in the lower abdominal area. She was found to have a duplex left kidney but that, along with her bladder, appear fine on ultrasound. She has had many yeast infections, a bladder infection, ear infections, chicken pox, croup...You name it...HELP!!!!!!! Adult friends/relatives who have watched her for the first time having one of these episodes have actually come to tears watching her..... |
