My first child is 12, second is 9 (three years, one month apart) and the next one came 8 years later! She is now 22 months and I am having baby #4 in two weeks exactly. So, the little girls will be 23 months apart (minus a few days). So, there wasn't very much consistency in the amount of time between pregnancies, but I can tell you that the dr.'s never said anything about not getting pregnant again in a certain amount of time or anything like that. Even though my uterus was thin at the incision site from baby #3, my dr. wasn't worried because he double-stitched that area. He said that he's seen cases worse than mine and he even went in for a repeat c-section once and the baby's arm was hanging out (just through the uterus)! It had probably just poked through, because Mom hadn't felt it, but the mom and baby were both just fine! He told me that because he wanted to let me know that the human body (especially a woman's) is absolutely amazing and we never know what we can endure or what will happen to us. Now I am 37 weeks and 2 days and we will do my C-section on June 3 and so far, I haven't felt anything too alarming. I was really paranoid at the beginning of my third trimester, because I was getting bigger all of a sudden and I kept thinking that my uterus was stretching and with every little sensation I could just imagine it popping like a balloon. Well, nothing happened and I have been fairly active and I have reminded myself over and over again that my uterus is a muscle, a really strong muscle and it is strong enough to take whatever stretching it needs to do in order to have this baby! I was also advised against breastfeeding my other little one, because she was still nursing when I got pregnant. I'd decided that I'd nurse her until age 2 if we were both up for it. Well, so far, she's still nursing in the morning and at night and it's something that we are not quite ready to give up. I keep telling her that when the baby comes, she'll have to be a big girl and give up the breast, and I think she understands. My point is, nipple stimulation usually causes uterine contractions and my dr. was afraid that this would cause preterm labor, but it didn't. So, the dr.s don't always know what's best for us, do they? This may not answer your question, but at least it gives you one perspective of a woman getting ready to have her 4th C-section. Thanks for reading my novella!
