Dear Patrick and Bella,

I have given birth twice, both times with no meds.
The first time wasn't bad from start to finish I was in labor for 7 hours and spent the whole time walking until time to push. The pain was not unbearable,it was uncomfortable but I could take it. Everyone told me the second is easier than the first. So I was totally unprepared for the pain I was about to experience which was so unlike the first. I was in labor for 7 hours again and the last hour and a half(felt like eternity) the pain was unbelievable!!! Buy the end I was begging my Doctor to cut me open and take her out. Now I am pregnant again and again faced with the decision meds or no meds. If the labor is like the first than I would say no meds and if it is like the second then I say YES to meds. However you don't know till you are experiencing it so I will make sure that I have an epidural on stand by. If things look like they are heading in the direction of the second than I will call for the meds.
If you go through it natural, you don't leave with any medal or certificate or special badge telling everyone of your accomplishment. I have heard so many people say "women have been giving birth forever without and meds so I can to." and I say " those women had no choice, back in those days their was nothing they could give them, now adays if you don't have to experience the pain why put yourself through it."
I wish for you both a labor and delivery like my first. Good luck to you both, let us know how everything turns out.
Monica
