| My son refuses to poop - PERIOD!!!!!not in the diaper, not in the potty!!! Sometimes holding it for up to five days, at which point, I have to give him an ennema....- He clenches his buttocks together crosses his legs and even walkes around like a peguin. He has even held an ennema for two hours whiel sitting on the potty (talk about control.
I have been dealing with this for about six months.... His doctor says this is common among little boys. Some of my friends have expirenced the same problem - BUT - those boys have seemed to get passed it. My youngster has not. Ever since he had a bad bowel movement that hurt, pooping has become a vicious cycle, he holds it so long that it becomes hard and when he can not hold it any longer or he has to go through the trauma of an ennema it hurts. I began seriously potty training in February. Urinateing was a breez, even know he is a little trooper - He is even wearing underware daily (pull-up at night although we haven't had any accidents...) I have to put a pull up on in order for him to poop.We go through 5-6 pull-ups for one bowel movemnt because he is holding it in and little by little it esacapes....... In the begining he pooped on the potty once without a problem BUT - water spashed and he thought something was wrong...... so we have returned to the cycle - yet again.
Recently, someone told me to place him on the pooty backwards. This should help with his fear because he can see that there isn't anything in the toilet and it forces him to keep his leggs apart thereby preventing the clenching.
If anyone has any ideas - please let me know... there isn't much that I haven't tried... but you never know.
