I started early labor on the 16th of March but our son wasn't born until March 28, 2000. When I arrived at the hospital I was dilating quite fast since I already started to dilate on the 16th of March. I was 8cm. dilated when they decided togive me a very small dose of Demerol which was only 50mg. They said that it was the smallest dose they ever gave a labor patient. I was in labor from 7am.I started pushing at 10:40am and our son was born at 11:05am. When I called my mom to tell her I was in labor she didn't believe me because I wasn't screaming like she expected me to. It felt like bad menstrual cramps to me and not quite as bad as passing a kidney stone.
It is up to you like everyone said. Every labor and delivery is different. If you want to go something light I would personally go with Demerol. Good luck to you and keep us posted.
