My Lord, what we as women go through, I am like really disappointed with Eve, this is all her fault, craving those bad apples...LOL!!!

I have delivered with and without drugs. Let me say the without drugs experience was not by choice. It was my third child and I called myself waiting until the contractions were 5minutes apart before I went to the hospital. Bad Idea!!! By the time we left from my house (during rush hour)for the hospital located in the heart of Georgetown in DC...TRAFFIC, OK!!! I dialated 8centimeters and I could feel that child's head approaching before I got in the hospital bed good. Very painful experience mainly because I was not expecting that kind of delivery (NO MEDS) and I was totally unprepared, which is key to natural childbirth. YOU MUST be prepared to endure that process. I was induced for the first time with my 4th child and that was the most painful labor out of all my children. I believe, no I'm convinced the Pitocin used to induce labor makes labor more painful. If you PREPARE to deliver your baby without painkillers and without having to be induced I believe you can manage ok, if PREPARED MENTALLY. Once you begin to have the urge to push (without drugs)chemicals are released in your body to numb the pain. Now having said that keep in mind that everybody's tolerance for pain is different. What ever you decide, do what makes you feel most comfortable during this precious time in your life. Remember you don't have anything to prove, the miracle in your body has already taken place at that point. Some women feel they are wimps if they choose to use meds to ease their pain... whatever! I'm with your mom on this one, pain and I don't see eye to eye. There is just nothing logical or heroic about suffering like that unneccessarily. I would rather remember being calm and relaxed during childbirth than remembering being extremely stressed and in unbearable pain. Just my experience and two cents though.
Let us know what you decide. I'm due in July with the final #5. Even though this is my fifth child I am still very nervous about delivery so I can imagine how you feel not really knowing what to expect but it's not as bad as you may think. Anyways you go in before me and I, as well as the rest of us, would love to find out what you decided in the midst of it all.

I pray you have Healthy & Happy experience... Tanya J.
