teenagers disrespectful and won't do as asked

Hi,
I have a 17 y old girl, my grandaughter whom I have raised since she was 3 1/2. I know withthe dealth of her mother we have spoiled her.
My problem is that when I asked her to clean her rooms, put her clothes away she will go about her business like I never said a word to her.
When I approach her about it she says she will do it but it seems to me when she is ready. Or throws her clothes in her closet and closes the door. I feel she doesn't respect me.It has been a very trying year with her.She never gets into any trouble in school or out. Her new friends stay out later then I like but they work til 9:00 PM . We live a small ways from town and she has to drive home late on the highway.
I don't know how to handle this, without her being very rude and hateful. Any suggestions?
We just bought her a car.
