SUBJECT: What is wrong with my son?????
Hi everyone! I am new to this board. I have 2 children. An 8 yr. old little girl, & a 6 yr old little boy. My little girl never gives me any problems at all. My son on the other hand has been giving me & my husband alot of trouble this past year. He used to be a very quiet, well reserved little boy. It all started last summer. We could tell he was becoming more & more active. This has continued now. He has failed kindergarten this year because he refuses to sit & do his work. He is very far behind all the other kids in his class. He is never still anymore. He is very defiant with us. We have tried every punishment we know with him. We have even ignored the bad behavior & only praised him for the good behavior. Nothing has worked. & we have been consistent also. He backtalks & argues with every thing we say to him. If he does not get his way, he throws hiself into a full fledge fit no matter where we are at. Alot of this I feel is just him being a normal 6 yr old. But the behavior is getting worse & worse. I've heard alot about add & adhd, but do not know if this is what this is. Just wanted someones opinion before I seek professional help. Something has to be done. If anyone else has the same problems & have found a discipline technic that seemed to help, please post and let me know. It would be so very much appreciated.
