Hi Linda!
I have two children, aged 2 and 4,and my oldest
child asks my husband and myself on many occasions if "daddy will die climbing so high on houses (he's a carpenter.)?" My husband used to say the same thing yours did, until we had a talk
about him making promises that only God truly knows.

Of course we all want to make our children feel safe, but godforbid, if anything were to actually happen to him after making such a promise? So, the
best thing is to be honest.

We all pray at night, right before we go to bed, that Daddy come home safely. But if something were
to happen, we tell our oldest- although she may not quite grasp what we're saying just yet- that
Heaven is where angels go, and Daddy would be one
as well. He doesn't want to die right now, but if
an accident happens, because they can happen, this
is the wonderful place that God has chosen for him
to live, until we can all be together again.

Don't let them be afraid of death, I believe it will only hurt them or confuse them later on.
Especially, when you tell them something that
no one has any control over......unless you're
God.

I hope this helps! Good luck!
