Please Help!!!!

I'm at wits end. My 21 month old daughter refuses to go to bed. I never had a problem until the past few weeks. I used to put her in her bed, sing 2 songs to her, then walk out. She never cried or gave me a hard time. Now she refuses to let me out of her room. She screams unless I set next to her bed and hold her hand until she falls asleep. If I try to leave, she jumps out of bed and cries. I've tried letting her cry for a while but she gets so upset, I hate to see her like that. I don't believe the "let them cry it out" tactic. If I try closing her door, she lets out blood-curdling screams. Last night she actually fell asleep standing at my bedside. I also refuse to let her sleep all night in my bed. Last nights routine lasted 4 hours. I don't know what to do. I don't work so it's not that horrible if I don't get sleep once in a while, but my husband wakes early for work. She refuses to just go to sleep on her own. Even naptime is a struggle. She will not lay down unless I make her. Help!!!
