SUBJECT: Husband has "dangerous" job... kids are asking about him dying?!!!?
Hi. I have nine kids (23,21,18,16,13,9,7,6,2). My 6 year old and my almost 3 yr old are starting to ask about their daddy's job. He is an under cover detective and ocassionaly gets into some sticky situations. A number of years ago he was in the hospital with a bad gun wound, this was before either of them were born, and they just recently heard that story. My 2 and 6 year old are asking if he can die when he works? He said "Of course not, I am very safe and I love you more than anything. I will never leave you, ever." Was that the right thing to say? God forbid something does happen, will they be mad at him because he said he would never leave?? I need your input. When I was 8 my best friend's mother died in a car accident and the one thing I remember her saying was "She said she would stay alive for me and she didn't. She's a liar!" I was too young to understand her anger but now I do... comments?

Thanks, Linda
