 | Dear Marilyn,
I agree with you about it being much worse.....like our pediatric neurologist explained to us, at least it is the best type of epilepsy to have, since the seizures almost always occur during sleep. I have read alot of material on the condition, and remain quite perplexed about what causes the seizures. I have read some very interesting information though which I think is valid. Such as seizures occurring more when the child is tired or sick. Our daughters last two seizures occurred when she had swimmers ear and her ears were bothering her at night. I found that to be quite interesting. We have no history of epilepsy in the family, but most cases are never explained. There was no trauma at birth and she has not received any type of head injury. Out of curiosity, did your daughter have any type of a reaction to her immunizations? Our daughter did to the DPT vaccine as a baby, and as a result only had the DT booster vaccine. I am trying to do some more research on this to see if there might be a connection. Our neurologist is like yours in believing she will grow out of it when before or around puberty. Has your daughter ever had a seizure while she was awake? Our daughter has not, which we are quite thankful of. If you are interested in communicating further, please respond back at your convenience. I appreciate you responding to my message. Marie in South Carolina |
