This is a very late post but...

I saw a great idea for the May Day containers in a magazine! They took tin cans (soup for small, coffee mid-sized, coffee large, and the huge kitchen cans (ask your local school!)) and painted them lovely, light solid colors.

Then they wrapped ribbons (contrasting to the color or darker than) around to hang about the house or area you're using them in. Dunk in some flowers (Or what you're using) and walla! Instant May Day Basket!

Other nice items to put in the baskets(containers) are: Cheeses, pine, pennies (representing gold for a wishing well) This idea is great for kids and fundraising for charities!
