Academics for my 5 year old..

My son is 5 yrs old he is in a PreK class from Tuesday thru Friday about 3 hours a day becuase he didn't meet the cut off deadline for kindergarten. He does well in most area's accept I have found that most of the children in his class can write atleast there first name and one of his teachers said that his fine motor skills aren't were they should be in that area . Then I spoke to another one of his teachers that said that he is doing fine that they don't push it on them that he isn't ready to do that yet. Since I spoke with his first teacher I have been giving him a paper a day to trace his letters should I keep pushing him to keep doing this or should I wait until he is ready! Any suggestions would be helpful.
