Montessori vs Regular School

Hello,

This is more of a statement than a problem but I think after I’ve made my statement I’ll need advice.
I live in Brooklyn, NY. My daughter will be starting Kindergarten in Sept. 2002. I looked for schools the best I could in my neighborhood. Public schools were horrendous. Not only did I find unmotivated staff member but the schools were over crowded and the class size was too big and the teachers seemed like either they were they to get “experience” (new, just out of school) or they had been doing this job for so long they forgot why they came into the profession. There were Catholic schools and Jewish schools. Since we are of neither faith we didn’t consider those an option. So where did it leave us? Two very expensive non-religious private schools. Both of them out of our price range. Then I came across a Montessori school. I had heard of the name but I didn’t know anything about the “Montessori Way” of teaching. Needless to say I visited and searched the internet for every bit of information I could find about Montessori schools. It was affordable for us, the class size is fairly small, and they offer one-on-one teaching in the early years. We’re happy with the school and the choice we made but CAN SOMEONE PLEASE GIVE ME THEIR INSIGHT INTO MONTESSORI SCHOOLS?
