Dyslexia- ed alternatives Linda Mood-Bell, what else?

I am new to this. My 8 year old son has been tested at school. More private tests to follow. It appears that he has some type of dyslexia flipping letters) and a mild attention (no hyperactivity). He is 6 months behind in reading, trouble spelling. He is 2 years ahead in math testing. Tests show gap between intellengence and performance.

Recently went to a presentation on Linda Mood-Bell learning systems. Expensive, we are considering it in combination with a private school that supports this method. I would like a second choice. What works? He wont be eligable for school services; because he is not far enough behind. Unwilling to wait for that magic line to be crossed. Plan to take matters into our own hands. But what has been PROVEN to work?
