My son is almost 8 and use to forget to bring home his books for homework, I simply said well when you have to repeat this grade because you were to lazy to get your things together than you will have to deal with it, noone can fix this problem except him and if you and the teacher keep helping him out he is not going to learn anything from this. He is old enough to know what needs to come home he chooses not to for some reason, but a little threat of repeating a grade has worked for me and I hope that it will work for you. Good luck let me know how it goes.
