 | Hi everyone! Just a couple of days ago my 3rd grader's teacher gave the children all an assignment which was to cook something special for the next days class "party". Well. The teacher never sent ONE letter home to ANY of the kids parents about this party, none of the kids knew about it until the day she told them about it. Also, nothing was written in ANY assignment books about this.
My son asked to do his homework in the kitchen (homework that I thought involved a peice of paper and a pencil!). So I told him he could, not knowing that it was cooking. My son was trying to bake a cake on the STOVE TOP by putting it in a pot and turning the fire on (we didn't have cake mix in the pantry...hmmm). My son also put a paper towel down right next to the fire and when I came in the thing was up in flames!!! FIRST OF ALL WHAT KIND OF TEACHER GIVES HER 3RD GRADE STUDENTS PERMISSION TO COOK!! I have told my son repeatedly not to go near the stove when it is hot, he still doesn't get that fire=hot!! I am friends with a lot of the moms in that class and I called them to see if they knew anything about this! They said "No.", and you should hear some of the stories they had about their kids cooking! I, along with all the other parents, called the principal about this situation and the principal SIMPLY stated that it was a mistake on the teachers part not to send home any information about it. Well, I know a couple of kids who had some burns on the fingers and arms from this! I have no idea what she was thinking! What else am I supposed to do about this? All of us parents have been talking trying to figure out what we can do about this teacher.
This is not the first time she has asked something of our kids without the parents knowing. She once asked all of the kids to bring their favorite eating utensil (sp?) to school with them. Well to most of the boys ir was KNIFE!!!!!! All of our kids were getting into the car to go to school with knives! What is this!? What can I do!!?? |
