Hi Sandy,
My six year old son shows a lot of signs of ADD or ADHD buy academically he is having no problems. He is going to a behavioral pediatrician in May of this year (that's how long we had to wait to get him in). I have heard a lot of negitive comments about Ritilin and other medications from friends and family. One of my dearest friends gave me a horrified look and asked,"You're not going to medicate him are you?" This upsets me a little because if he is diagnosed, and the dr. prescribes meds, I will definately try it. My son is upset a lot of the time and has feelings of worthlessness because he gets in "trouble" for his behaviour at school just about every day. Jonathan is very sensitive and caring. He tells me a lot that he wishes he could pay attention and that the other children wouldn't distract him. How do you deal with the negitive reactions from other parents who don't have to deal with the emotional rollercoaster of a child with this problem? Also my husband is of the mind that it doesn't matter whether Jonathan has a problem or not, he expects him to behave. He feels I am way to leinant and making excuses for our son. I feel my husband is not taking into account the possibility that Jonathan is doing his best with what he has to work with. Any advice along those lines? Thanks and God Bless Sarah
