SUBJECT: Opinions on piercings for teens. My family thinks I've gone too far...
Hi there. I was wondering what your opinions on piercings were? I have a 17 yr. (1 of 4 kids)old who is very much disgusted by his extended family (grandparents, cousin, etc.) because they are telling him he looks like a 'bad' person because I let him get piercings, and they are also calling me a bad mother. (no, no, no!) He gets absolutely wonderful grades, very high SAT score, tons of college acceptance letters and I feel that he has the right to express himself however he feels the need to. In his case it is how he looks. I completely and totally respect that. He is very respectful, and just a good kid. I couldn't ask for anything better. This battle is getting very bad. I can't take it anymore. I don't judge their children! I was wondering if I could get your opinions on how to handle this. I just assume not talking to them for a while would tell them that enough is enough. They won't listen to anything I have to say, he is MY son and I was fine with the idea to let him express himself. Later on, if this was just a phase, he can take them out! Whatever he pleases. He deserves something for himself with all of his hard work!
