SUBJECT: A no-dilation situation
My due date is about 9 days away, and I am ready to have this baby. But a visit to the ob yesterday told me that my cervix is only halfway effaced and that there is no dilation whatsoever, which is exactly the same as it was 3 1/2 wks. ago. The docs said that if I don't dilate soon, they may have to give me a c-section, because I have gestational diabetes and it's deteriorating my placenta, causing concern for the baby. They don't want me to go over my due date because of this. My mother had the same prob. when she was preg. w/ my sister, and she nearly died. Although that was 16yrs. ago, I'm just a little scared. I know the risks of having a major surgery when you have diabetes. Is there anyone out there who has had this same problem? If so, let me know how you handled the situation.
