SUBJECT: Smoking Grandparents
My son is four and a half months old. He is a very happy baby with everyone...except my husbands parents (and sister for that matter). Whenever they pick him up, after holding him for a few seconds, he starts screaming. After that, even if I am holding him and they start talking to him, he starts screaming. He is not like this with anyone else, even my brother who he didn't see for 2 months or perfect strangers.

The only thing that I can think of is that they both smoke (my sister in law does not, but her husband does). Could it be that he has a very sensitive nose and does not like the smell of smoke. He does get upset if you spray Lysol in his diaper genie when he is in the room, and if I try to use a different baby lotion that has a heavier scent on him, he cries.

Any opinions would be helpful...I'm sick of them saying that my son is a brat and spoiled...if he is, then it is only when they are in the room. Thanks!!
