SUBJECT: rape & domestic violence education in school
I am a twenty-two year old college student and I am currently working on an independent project for my class. I am writing a curriculum for rape and domestic violence education in high schools. I never received ANY information on violence against women when I was in school, and I wish I had. The curriculum I am working on will include statistical information on the incidence of violence against women, but will be framed around discussions on the cultural and societal reasons for the rise in violence against women, and brainstorming solutions. I want to empower the students and make them understand that they do not have to tolerate violent in their lives, homes and culture.
I am interested in learning from high school students what kind of information they would like to study, if they receive any domestic violence or rape education now, and what they feel and believe about these topics. I am also interested in hearing from parents on the same questions. Is there anything you feel I should include in my program?
Any help you can give is greatly appreciated!
Thanks
