SUBJECT: How many languages is too many for my toddler to learn?
Hello Everyone,

I have a nine month old son, Nico, and my husband and I are trying to decide how many languages we will teach him in the coming years. My husband is from Switzerland and was taught three languages before the age of 5; French, Italian, and the Swiss German dialect. He said he's never had a problem and his parents also said the same thing. We might eventually move back to Switzerland so we've decided that he should know at least English and SwissGerman. However, my husband wants to teach him French and maybe Italian as well. I'm not sure whether or not three (or four) languages will be too much for a young child and I don't want him to become frustrated. Please tell me your advice.

Thanks

Marie
