Keeping in mind that I work with children 0-6 but don't have any of my own yet...take this advice if you want. I have seen this work. Take a good smelling can of aerosol spray/Lysol type spray and cover the can with decorated paper/ stickers/ writing/ etc. so you can't see the original Lysol symbol/advertising anymore. Label the can "Happy Dream Spray" or something of that sort. As long as you don't mind a little manipulation in your relationship with your child, it may work. Tell your toddler that this spray will help bring good dreams OR bring sleep OR whatever you want to say. It just might work. The mind is a powerful thing and just thinking that something will work even though it just smells good may be enough to convince your son.
