Hi Sabrina, i'm a single mom and I work with D.D. children and adults. I don't know about Chicago but in New York we have respite homes where you can drop off your kids for a few hours or even a weekend. The staff are trsained and have certification. A girlfriend of mine works for one of these homes I could get more info if you'd like. I work for U.C.P and Eden School of Autism here in New York. Hope I helped or can help.-Kim
