You know, I grew up with siblings, each of us two years apart, and it was a wonderful experience! Each of us grew into our resposibilities naturally, helping our Mother by taking small responsibilities for ourselves and each other. Having siblings close in age also helps in school: socially and academically. We have grown into well adjusted adults, each with a unique and close relationship with the others. I highly support your idea to have stair-steps!
