 | I was reading your post and I felt the need to reach out. My son has ADD/multiple types. If you never heard of it, get the book HEALING ADD, by Dr. Amen. Thats first of all, next, I would say that my son was very aggressive and argumentative. My behavioral specialist put him on a regimend of medication that most psychiatrist dont agree with, but I can say.....IT WORKS!! My son is also on adderal. It works well, but for his behavior he's on limictal (100mgs) and Effexor (300 mgs). This layering of meds works well and they dont have to do blood work. Also, my son was on depakote by a dr. from Kaiser and it did nothing to help my son. All it did was make my son tired and not want to take his meds. So I changed it. I had some problems with my insurance and they wouldnt cover my sons meds because I was at an outside the plan specialist so I took my son to a dr. in the plan, he changed most of my sons meds. When I first brought him to Kaiser the doctor said he was surprised at how well Josh looked seeing how much medication he was on. Then the doctor changed his meds. Six weeks later, my son was a mess. He couldnt keep his eyes open, couldnt communicate with anyone..... I changed my health plan coverage and I pay to see the specialist out of pocket and my meds are covered. As our children get older, adjustments need to be made because of everchanging chemicals in the brain. Get the book, maybe call the clinic, you may get some more answers to your issues. Good luck and God Bless you and your family. |
