My son just 9 had a hell of a time trying to "remember" to bring home his homework and all materials he would need to complete homework. After many many times with ME going into the school after class to do a double check that he had all his stuff and me YELLING at the teachers over this issue. ITS SOLVED. POINT BLANK. Here is what they did...They made him a special binder. A hard cover folder like big kids use. They filled it with pocket folders using a 3 point punch. Each pocket was named like..reading...math...science and so on. A pocket said: work to be completed and one said work to turn in. Even a pocket for notes to MOM and one for notes to teacher. It was a life saver. Its heavy for him to carry BUT he doesnt forget a thing. He tends to keep it cleaned out and organized or it is really heavy to carry back ad forth. They used the kinda hard folder you can slip a piece of paper into the front cover and they let him design the cover. I NO longer have to worry about a missig paper or missing homework info. I love it. Try it. Thanks go out to Ms. Law as she was the mastermind behind this great idea. ALSO...some kids need a buddy. Ask teacher to assign another classmate to your child, one who can check that your child has all the homework in their folders and backpack. This method has been used also with great success and it doesnt interfer with the time of the teacher. Hope this helps. HomeWisdom.
