Like your son,my nine year old daughter was having the same problem always forgetting her homework and her books that she needed to complete her work. She's a very smart girl and I knew that her grades were falling. Finally, after having a conference with all 3 of her teachers we decided that I had to stay on top of it knowing what days her homework was due on really helped.For instance spelling is due on Wed. and reading on Fri. It also helped for me to ask everyday "Did you bring your books home?" If she said "No I forgot." then we load up and go back to the school,there's usually someone ther to let her in to get her stuff,Now it's pretty much a habit for both of us, I make sure Iknow what she needs to have done so that we can work on it together if she needs help.She's gotten alot more independent about getting her work done and feels much more proud of herself realizing that the positive attention she gets for getting her work completed far outways the negative. She's finally bringing her grades up and hopefully by the end of the year she'll be on the A-B honorroll. Try to help your son make this a habit and soon he will be too.
