we are all 4 from the same set of parents--my parents were 17&19 when i was born (surprise!!). they originally had always said that i was going to be their "only", then 9 years later they became christians and decided to have another, then another, then yet another (oops!) came along when my mother was 33 and i was 16. this is amazing to me now, because i'm 30 and have just had my first (only :)...i can't imagine being 30 with 3, one of which was 13!! i did not do a lot of babysitting, in fact, i rarely babysat for my siblings--my parents went NOWHERE--EVER :( mom was content to be at home with her babies..i remember wishing for a little sister as a youngster, but by the time mom got preg, i was already 9 years old--i was excited, but now looking back, i again love my siblings to death, but what was the point? the point is that it was for them, not me...it's like they had 2 families--me, then the rest of them--so i was raised basically as an only and feel that i'm a very well adjusted person--i guess my point is, if you want to have many children for yourself then do that, but don't think of it as having another child so that your first child will have a "playmate"...to me that is a wrong reason for having more--if i ever change my mind and do decide to have more, it won't be so that my daughter will have a playmate, it'll be because i want another one, and frankly, i'm just having no desire to do this again...i feel like at this point (she's 5 1/2 mos) it's nothing but grunt work, hassles, lugging, meeting her every demand, and not at all rewarding...i'm hoping the rewarding stuff comes later--along with MY LIFE BACK!!! i miss getting to be a couch potato on a sunday afternoon after church--now there's always something and i quite honestly wasn't fully prepared for all of this--now that i've "done it" i see no reason to intentionally do this again to myself :)
