SUBJECT: Haunting Childhood Memories
All I can remember as a child was being severely beaten by my father. I am the oldest of six children. I also have flashbacks of possible sexual abuse as a young child by my father. In todays day and age, he would have been locked up in jail for the bruises and welts he left on me from the belt buckle. Back in the 1960's and 1970's, child abuse was not a big issue. I am fortunate to have two children that I do not beat or abuse in any shape or form. As far as I am concerned, my father was only a sperm donor and nothing else. Never once did he participate in anything in my life. As of today, we tolerate each other. I have never told anyone about the horrible things I remember and try to block out. I do realize none of it was my fault and that is a big help.
