As they advertise, you "can" take a HPT up to 4 days before you expect your period. If your body is cooperative you can actually get a positive result this early too. What the manufacturers of these HPT's forget to tell you is that each womans body is different as to when they start producing enough HCG for the pregnancy test to read positive. The HPT's that claim they can tell up to 4 days before are usually more sensitive than those that only claim to be able to tell on the first day of your missed period ~ but even that may not be the case (it may just be a disclaimer!). If you are really anxious and have an extra $15 to spare, go ahead and take an HPT now, it may turn up positive and your questions will be answered! If your period doesn't show up then wait a few days, and try another one (remember to buy a twin or triple pack of HPT's to begin with ~ you will use them). If you get a few negative results and your period still doesn't show up then go ahead and make an appointment to have a blood test done and/or an annual exam with your GYN! Don't rely on HPT's as they often give false negative results (if the results are positive however, you are probably definately pregnant)! Good Luck, and keep us posted!
