Hi - wanted to share my experience - I just had my 1st child and suffered sacrum pain from about 4 months on - around a month or 2 before I started having pelvic pain but it was only when I turned in bed - I had a vaginal birth - had an epi and was in the pushing stage for over 2 1/2 hours. After the baby was born I was unable to walk at all - I heard crunching noises and pain like I never felt in my life - anyway I had an xray done and I had a 2 cm separation of my symphysis pubis - I was told it takes about 6 weeks to heal and it has now been 6 1/2 months and it is still the same. I have a more severe form called diastasis symphysis pubis which is diagnosed if the separation is 1 cm or more. I don't want to scare you because my situation isn't as common but it does exist however rare - you can't have an xray done now that you are pregnant but yes there could have been damage and you didn't feel it from the epi but not to my extent I'm sure because you would know for certain. If it happened in one pregnancy the chances are more likely that it will happen again but it usually isn't worse than the last pregnancy (so I've read)

I really would be careful how you are positioned in labor and from what I read laying on your back with your knees spread apart is the worst for this kind of pain and that is how they had me. If you could be on your side you will probably be better off - After you give birth I would advise having an xray done to see if there is any gap at your symphysis - good luck and if you want further info you can email me.
