It doesn't matter what HPT you take, unless your body wants to cooperate (produce enough HCG) the test may still give you a false negative. My concern is the length of your cycle, is your doctor aware of how long your cycle is? I have heard of 32-35 day cycles that are pretty normal, but a 40 day cycle seems a bit long......were they that long before you got pregnant with your first daughter? the only reason I am questioning it is because your body may have a lower level of progesterone/estrogen ~ which ever one is responsible (I always forget), and thus may be slowing your cycles down. I would definately make an appointment with your GYN and get a blood test done and if he/she isn't aware of how long your cycles are I would definately discuss that with him/her too. As far as pregnancy symptoms, I didn't have any (except for one dizzy spell during implantation ~ I think) with my second child, so don't rely on symptoms either. Good Luck and keep us posted!
