My 8 month old DD sleeps GREAT at night, 12 hours straight since 12 weeks old. We used Weissbluth for naps and bedtime and it worked for a long time. For the last 2-3 months though, she only naps 30-40 minutes, wakes up and just plays and talks until we come get her up to over an hour later! I never get her up until she's been in her crib at least an hour and 1/2 as most sleep experts recommend.
I am at a loss to help her sleep longer so it is more restorative. Most days, she's not fussy, but sometimes she is and it is troubling when it falls when we have something planned, like play group. She still has to take 3 naps because she takes such short ones. I am really concerned about this. Most babies are down to 2 naps by now. I know around a year to 18 months they drop to one nap. She still requires 3, so what can I expect? Will this end soon? Can I expect her to have better naps? Any help is greatly appreciated.
By the way, I have read Weissbluth, BabyWise, and Will Wilkoff's Is Your Child Overtired? None of these really address this situation very well. I appreciate any help. Thanks!!
