Our son was way under 1 yr old when he was longer than our rear seat carrier. Our pediatrician recommeded the foward facing seat right away. We bought 2 Evenflows. I carry the Vanguard brand and my husband carries the Secure Advantage brand becaure we like the colors and the soft cusions. These are for average sized babies. My son is now 15 months old and the car seats fit him fine. I don't like the car straps of the Vanguard. They get twisted easily. Until we get the booster seat, these will do for us.
