getting off BCP and trying to conceive

Hello,
I got off Orthotricyclin in dec 2003. I had my periods in Jan 2004 as per schedule. My husband and I are trying to conceive. Could someone please tell me if I should take ovulation tests to increase my chances of getting pregnant? Any advice from lucky success stories would be tremendously helpful. Thanks.
