 | My son started eating table foods at 6 months of age. He hated baby foods. I guess they were too soupy and bland for him. He did ok with stage 1 foods. After 2 unsuccessful tries with stage 2 foods, we fed him table foods. We were very careful to exclude egg whites- he had slight allergy from it. At 11 and 1/2 months he was able to eat every thing except for chili and Olive garden restaurant food. He gets severe hives all over his head and body. My poor baby! My son also had 4 teeth on the top and bottom even now at 15 months and could eat well as long as you chop or chew (please don't get disgusted)the food fine so it doesn't become a choking hazzard. He gets breakfast (cereal and bannana or just a fruit cup), lunch (meat and vegetables supplimented with pasta, or rice or mini sandwiches like egg salad or cold cuts) and dinner (whatever we're having). He always stops eating when he is full. He will let you know by spitting out the food, or shake his head violently. He has a hearty appetite and will eat at least a half a plateful of an adult portion for lunch or dinner. He is only 21 lbs. Soups and pastas are a great hit! I give him snacks in between meals- either fruit, fruit cup, yogurt or cheese crackers, or party mixes (healthy mixed cereals and pretzels). My pediatrician said by one they can eat almost anything. You will know if they have food allergies. They can have hives, rashes, and diarrhea. Good luck! |
