SUBJECT: 16 mnth waking screaming HELP sorry this is a long one!!
Hi,
I am a divorced single mother of two boys, One is 12 yrs old and doing great. I had another baby boy 16 months ago. And WOW what a difference in behavior. He goes to daycare everyday and sleeps about 1-2 hrs for a nap. When I get home(6:00pm), usuall routine, diner, homework, bath cuddle, play and storytime (all by 8:30pm) with the little one at least. Then we are off to bed, fine, perfect. He goes right down with a sippie cup and goes right to sleep (with the help of a night light close to crib. He has been sleeping thru the night since 2mnth old.

Well about 5 days ago, he started waking up all different hours of the night, screaming as if someone was hitting him, or he is very scared. I usually let him cry for about 1/2 hr it is all i can take really. It breaks my heart to hear the gut wrenching cries from his room. I will go in and he is standing/sitting in his crib crying my name... mamamama with his hands reaching out.

At this point i try to give him a sippie of milk, he will throw it at me. Then I pick him up, and he rests his head on my shoulders and hugs me tightly. Again this breaks my heart. I try to put him back into the crib, He starts screaming again.. So I have tried almost everything to soothe him, laying with him in bed, he will lie there for a bit, and decide it is time to play. To letting him cry and for him not to get used to me running to him everytime.. So everynight I am trying to go longer, and longer with him screaming. That is NOT working.. He has now cried for 4 hrs straight.
He has his molars, he is not sick, I have thought about night terrors.. I dont know what to do... I have no idea what to think of this.. Please someone, HELP
Thanks for letting me vent..
