I had the same trouble with my first born child (she is now 2) She would wake up 2-3 times a night and sometimes i couldn't get her back to sleep she would want to play and laugh. Well my mother in law said to let her cry herself back to sleep. And i thought that was the meaniest thing in the world. And she said that is how she got her first born child to sleep through the night. She got us the Dr. Spock book which is pretty thick. And it does mention that method in this book. Believe it or not but it does work, I know from personal experience that it is HEART breaking to hear your child cry like that. I always made sure that she was dry and fed her cereral and a bottle before i would put her to bed. I have also heard a few different pedetricians suggest this method and they've tried it and it does work you just have to be tough enough and not break down and walk in the room, unless of course they are sick or teething.
