This is horrible! I did not realize this was even possible - kids attention span is less then 45 minutes, so by having them "study" for 6 hours straight, nothing is gained other then excessive weight, lack of social skills and absence of simple childhood play !!! I am sorry for being overly agressive in my post, but if any of my kids were forced by their school to "perform" to those "standards", I would transfer them immediately!
Meg, just like you said - your son is starting to hate school - this is what is alarming. I would say if you have a choice - transfer him. Let the kids have their childhood!
