SUBJECT: My 4 year old doesn't eat or sleep, and throws horrible tantrums.
I have a four year old step daughter that my husband and I just got custody of about 9 months ago. At first things were fine, she had a lot of adjusting to do and did it pretty well. She had always had problems with eating right and sleeping right since we got her, but things just keep getting worse. She doesn't eat much. And if she does it is mainly sweets, which i mean like pancakes or something of that sort. She always wants junk but we only give it to her if she eats a meal..hardly ever. Yesterday she had eggs and hot dogs for breakfast, and she didn't eat anything else all day. That was the first day she went without eating and I am scared it is going to get worse. Also she doesn't sleep. We put her in bed around 8:30, which I think is a little late for a four year old, and by the time my husband and I go to bed around 11 or so she is awake, unless she had totally exhusted herself from crying and throwing fits, and in that case it will still take her at least an hour to go to sleep. Also this child doesn't take naps. I have tried putting her to bed at 9 or 10 or 11 to see if she just wasn't tired, but no matter how late we let her stay up she still doesn't go to sleep when we put her to bed. I am going to find a pediatrician or something to see what is going on with her. If anyone had any advice.
