Thank you so much for posting that! I have explained that to people for years and am always saddened to hear how many use the Bible, full of words of love, to inflict pain. I stumbled onto this site doing research for a class. My son is in second grade and we are "no spankers" which is sooo much different than no discipline. I would like all of you who have toddlers to know that my sons teacher has written in his report card that he is one of the most considerate, thoughtful children she has ever had in class. He is always helping whoever needs it and is never mean or aggressive. When the toddler tantrums end (I promise they do :) then the real effects of not having been hit start shining through in your children. They project to others what they learn from you, if they learn love they project it, and if they learn to be physical and aggressive they will project that.
One only has to read the first few lines of the original poster to figure out which her parents thought was best:(
