 | I know what the program is, but do not know any of the qualifications. I recently met a 17 year old girl that has a 4 month old. I also have a 4 month old daughter. We were talking about formulas and she said her daughter was on Nutramigen and that it was so expensive for her. She is still in high school and works to cover all of her baby costs. She does live at home with her parents, but they do not help her with formula, diapers, clothes, etc. I asked her if she had checked out WIC, because I have seen other posts here stating you can get the special formulas with a doctors order. She said that she can not get WIC because she is only 17, so they go off her parents income, not hers. Is this true? It just seems so wrong to me. Someone like that seems to need it more than most, but can't get it. I really feel for this girl and respect the fact that she did not drop out of school and is supporting her child with little help. Her doctor would not even give her samples. I asked my doctor and he gave me 7 cans to give to her. Is there any other help available to her? If anyone has any advice or suggestions I would really love to help her. I even thought about letting her use my address to see if she could get WIC then, but since she is a minor I am afraid of the legal ramifications that could have on myself and my husband. Thanks |
