SUBJECT: rota virus / weight gain and all the above
Hi my son is almost 15 months. He may weight aroung 18 to 19lbs now. The pants that he wears are size 3 to 6 month. They are starting to get to short. When he was about 3 months old he had what they call the rota virus. They finally put him in the hosp. for about 3 days. He had the vomiting and diarrhoea and got dehydrated. Since all that has gone on his developmental are slow. Around when he was 10 months they wanted us to go and see a neurologist doctor. He had a MRI done on his head and extensive blood work done, and everything has come back fine. He has also sent us to a physical therapy. We have been seeing them for about 4 months now. He has never crawled but he is walking (along). He will not pull up or sit up on his own. He's just now getting were he will lie on his stomch. He is also just now getting were he will roll from back to stomch or stomch to back. We went for a check-up with the neurologist now he wants us to see a gastroenterologist doctor. He is saying that since he hasn't gain much weight did the rota virus do some damaged to his stomch. and we are also having problems with constipation. So is the rota virus the cause of it to? Does anyone know if the rota virus can do long term damaged?
Thanks
