 | After reading all the messages before this I noticed that no one mentioned music. Have any of you tried playing soft music (lullabies or just instrumental) at bedtime? I have a three year old that doesn't go to bed until 9:00 at the earliest. (and I thought that was late!)
We have a routine of reading a few books before we go to bed. After about 2 or 3 books, I turn out the lights and turn on the music. We always play the same tape every night. Just make sure it is soft, slow, soothing music. Nothing that is meant for play time. You really have to listen to them before bedtime to make sure it is really bedtime music. I have gotten a couple that say bedtime music, but they are still to upbeat to sleep to. James Taylor also works pretty good.
However, I have gotten into a bad habit of laying down and falling asleep with him. The problem is most of the time my husband is left watching tv all by himself until he goes to bed. Then he'll get me up to go to our room.
But, that leads me to my 2nd bit of advice. If possible lay down with your child in your childs bed instead of yours. If you can stay awake, then you can get up and go about your evening business, unless you're like me and end up being lulled to sleep too.
I hope everyone's schedule works out soon! |
