Yeah, it's gonna be hard, dude. You just have to be confident. Think of it this way...

If she says no, you've lost nothing.
If she says yes, you've gained everything.
If you don't ask and she would've said yes, you've lost everything.
If you don't ask, and she would've said no, you lose the experience, wisdom and courage you would've gained, had you asked and been rejected.

You cannot lose in this situation. (Some people may say you can lose the girl, but, since he doesn't have the girl, that isn't true.) If she doesn't want to go out with you, contrary to popular belief, life isn't over. People aren't going to point and laugh at you, she certainly won't hate you or think you're a pervert, and you'll have nothing to be ashamed of. If kids at school do make fun of you, just ask, "Oh, really, how many 16 year old girls have you asked out, again? Ahh, yes, I see, none. Know why? You're a spineless nobody."

Can't hurt to try, bud.
